My previous editor, who had assisted me in getting three children’s books published abruptly retired with little notification. My fourth manuscript was finished, and a promotion date had been scheduled. I needed an editor, Proto! A friend suggested I join the Alliance of Independent Authors (Alli). Alli’s resources allowed me the opportunity to choose an editor from their vetted list. I took a chance. There was only one vetted children’s book editor listed. I chose Writing for Children with Karen Cioffi.
Excellent choice! We formed a collaborative partnership. I found Karen to be professional, competent, fair, honest, and easy to work with. She possessed the skill set necessary to get the manuscript, edited, formatted, and published. As she reviewed the manuscript, she saw changes only an experienced editor would see. When obstacles were encountered, she and I worked together to solve them. We met on Zoom once; all other communication was via email. Constant communication was essential to completing this project. She did everything she said she would do and “What to Do About Uncle LeRoy” was published.
